One of the most pervasive and debilitating characteristics of mental illness is social isolation. Southwest Center maintains two Adult Day Treatment programs, Oasis House in Iron County and Independence House in Washington County which are structured, therapeutic settings where individuals suffering with severe mental illness receive assistance in managing their lives toward more normal and productive roles in society.


Each clubhouse program operates on a daily basis, Monday through Friday, with evening and weekend social activities.

All aspects of the Skills Development program form a comprehensive network of community support for the mentally ill.


Both programs follow the "club house model." Under this model, the client assumes a membership role in the club and participates in decision making regarding the operation of the clubhouse.


Mountain View House in a 24-hour residential living facility operated by Southwest Center. The facility provides 24-hour, supervised, home environment for severely mentally ill adults.

The residential program is aimed at enabling the client to reach his/her highest level of functioning in the least restrictive environment.

Mountain View House provides programs which help to resolve feelings of loneliness and alienation.

Mountain View House promotes acceptance and approval among its residents by providing the following services:

  • Training in independent living skills: money management, housekeeping, cooking and personal hygiene
  • Social activities and interpersonal experiences
  • Day treatment participation and other mental health therapy
  • Problem solving skill development
  • Access to professional staff
  • Coordination of personal goal planning

Case Management is a service designed for adults and youth diagnosed with a serious mental illness who need assistance in gaining access to and maintaining necessary care and services. Individuals receiving case management are assigned a Case Manager who works closely with them in assessing their specific needs. Upon completion of assessments, an individualized treatment plans are designed so that the clients needs can be met.

Examples of Case Management services include, but are not limited to:

  • Assistance in applying for entitlement benefits such as Medicaid, Social Security, and Food Stamps
  • Intensive in-home support during a crisis
  • Assistance in obtaining needed medications and medical services including counseling services
  • Advocacy services
  • Assistance in obtaining and maintaining housing
  • Intensive services as needed
